The Inter-American Alliance for Accountability on Real Property Rights cordially invites you to participate in the Alliance's 2005 Meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Alliance was initiated by the United States Agency for International Development as part of its support to the Summit of the Americas process. The Alliance seeks to bring together advocates for the advancement of property rights systems in the hemisphere to support countries of the region in their individual and collective efforts to meet the commitments for strengthening property rights made at the Special Summit of the Americas in Monterrey, Mexico in January, 2004.
The Alliance held its inaugural meeting in July 2004 and since then has engaged in education and outreach activities, promoted cross-border dialogue on the importance of strengthening property rights, and developed a Blueprint for Strengthening Real Property Rights. The Blueprint is intended as a tool to both measure real property rights and real property rights systems in a specific country against a set of common principles and standards, as well as to enable monitoring of progress in strengthening real property rights over time.
Coinciding with the Fourth Summit of the Americas being held November 4-5, 2005 in Mar del Plata Argentina, the Alliance will hold its 2005 meeting in Buenos Aires on November 1-2 at the Panamericano Hotel. The meeting will provide a platform for countries to highlight progress made towards the Special Summit’s Property Rights Mandate. As well, the meeting is intended to broaden awareness of and participation in the Alliance; to highlight the Alliance’s progress-to-date; to introduce the Property Rights Blueprint toolkit and the Alliance’s exciting new Central America Mortgage Initiative; and, most importantly, to engage in an open discussion about the future of the Alliance. A tentative agenda is attached for your review.
